Skepsos's skepsis

The importance of being effective

Posted in Skepsos by skepsos on August 18, 2010

Who could ever believe in a deity who created all the huge things in the entire universe AND is also watching all the little things you’re doing in your bedroom?
Seems the deity doesn’t quite know how to set priorities here.

Such a waste

I’m sure the number of trees that were cut down to make those silly crucifixes, is enough to generate oxygen for our entire planet for at least a hundred years.

Less fun?

I just had a funny vision:
playing a ‘Ouija board’ with skeptics and being fucking bored, because ofcourse the glass never moves 🙂
But there’s plenty of fun in life without believing in ghosts!

The birth of scepticism

Posted in Skepsos by skepsos on March 25, 2010

My skepticism began at the start of the first Gulf War, when CNN continuously displayed the bombing as if it was a videogame. It even had a name: ‘precision bombing’ and it was supposed to be safe and nonharmful to Iraqi civilions.
At that time I would blindly trust the eight ‘o clock news.
The next day when I was attending my physics class and my fellow classmates were discussing the war, my teacher came in. Some pupils asked him ‘what do you think about the war sir?’ He paused for a while and said “you shouldn’t believe what they show you on tv. It is impossible to have civilianfriendly precision bombing if at the same time they tell you a thousand missiles are being fired.”
This shocked me, made me think and forever sparked a search for truth in me.

Tell me: do you remember your first skeptical moment?

Nontheist morals

Posted in Skepsos by skepsos on March 5, 2010

I have been building up my moral conscience and ethics purely through my life’s experiences, talking to other people, forming my opinions and changing them constantly.
I wish one day everyone on this planet will be blessed with that privilage, instead of being forced into it through religion from their childhood on.

No warning needed

The environment, this planets’ endless beauties and all animals should be protected, simply because we should – I don’t feel for playing the global warming card. We should just simply stop wasting – that’s not so hard to understand is it?

I don’t need to be made scared of global warming. I just simply care.
It’s like morality: I don’t need the threat of hell to be ‘good.’

Ghostly science

I don’t believe in ghosts. They could exist, but only as just some kind of quantum mechanic anomaly that will pretty soon be explained through the superstring theory.

His Noodely Appendage

All these ridiculous beliefs and conspiracies… I almost hope one day the Flying Spagghetti Monster will come down to earth and reveal Itself as the one true and only god.
He will probably say “Oh and by the way: I built the pyramids, because you surely did not expect the Africans could’ve done this themselves?”

Past

Religion was the first science but it has now been completely disproven.

The right verb

Posted in Skepsos by skepsos on March 2, 2010

I don’t believe there is no god, I know there is no god.

Be proud, and use the right verb.
