Skepsos's skepsis

Coming back from a slumber

Posted in News, Skepsos by skepsos on January 26, 2017

In these times, of ‘alternative facts’, we must stand up and spread the truth as much as possible. So I decided to revive this blog. This site used to be just a way for me to gather my own personal thoughts and pull out some atheist jokes, but the stakes are higher now. With a United States president that is prohibiting scientists from their work, my first action will be to inform:

Government accounts that are on gag order went rogue. They are now posting their factual, scientific tweets under new, non government controlled names, promising to tweet real facts and climate change news. Follow them on Twitter:

Alternative NIH – @Alt_NIH
Alt HHS – @AltHHS
Alternative CDC – @Alt_CDC
AltUSForestService – @AltForestServ
AltFDA – @alt_fda
altEPA – @altUSEPA
AltUSDA – @altusda
AltUSNatParkService – @AltNatParkSer
Rogue NASA – @RogueNASA

The movement on Twitter first began when the National Park Service was forced to shut down its Twitter activity temporarily after retweeting two tweets — one about the attendance of Trump’s inauguration and the other about the disappearance of some pages on This week, the Trump administration instituted a temporary media blackout at the EPA. Also, the Badlands National Park in South Dakota tweeted out multiple facts about climate change. These tweets were later deleted.

It’s hard to keep up with the pace of accounts sprouting up on Twitter, but as of writing there are now unofficial accounts for the Forest Service, Environmental Protection Agency, Centers for Disease Control, Food and Drug Administration, National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services, and Department of Agriculture.

Such a waste

I’m sure the number of trees that were cut down to make those silly crucifixes, is enough to generate oxygen for our entire planet for at least a hundred years.

Shake yer Mohammed

I don’t like offending, but sometimes you just do things and at the same time cannot help offend someone… it happens every day.
This is my submission for Everybody Draw Mohammed Day

The blog I was hoping to submit this to, seems to have mysteriously disappeared? What happened?

Come on you fuckers, I can take you.
Here is a great archive on all the depictions of Mohammed.

The birth of scepticism

Posted in Skepsos by skepsos on March 25, 2010

My skepticism began at the start of the first Gulf War, when CNN continuously displayed the bombing as if it was a videogame. It even had a name: ‘precision bombing’ and it was supposed to be safe and nonharmful to Iraqi civilions.
At that time I would blindly trust the eight ‘o clock news.
The next day when I was attending my physics class and my fellow classmates were discussing the war, my teacher came in. Some pupils asked him ‘what do you think about the war sir?’ He paused for a while and said “you shouldn’t believe what they show you on tv. It is impossible to have civilianfriendly precision bombing if at the same time they tell you a thousand missiles are being fired.”
This shocked me, made me think and forever sparked a search for truth in me.

Tell me: do you remember your first skeptical moment?

The killing of transgender people shows that a ‘man’ in a dress apparantly is felt to be a bigger threat than war and poverty.

Acquired royalty

All royalty should be stripped from their benefits and possessions, except for drag queens and drag kings, they can stay – since they are the only kings and queens who actually attained their royalty themselves, and not by right of birth.

No warning needed

Posted in Skepsos by skepsos on March 5, 2010

The environment, this planets’ endless beauties and all animals should be protected, simply because we should – I don’t feel for playing the global warming card. We should just simply stop wasting – that’s not so hard to understand is it?

I don’t need to be made scared of global warming. I just simply care.
It’s like morality: I don’t need the threat of hell to be ‘good.’

New fascism

We should stop to compare wrong policies with fascism, because bringing Hitler into it makes everyone a victim of the Godwin rule.
I think it’s far more sensible to simply compare bad policies to religion. Since religion also turns rigid beliefs into rigid rules.

My nonconformity was always motivated by the desire of finding myself, it was never provocation.
I’m far too sissy for that.
It’s in my nature to be genderqueer, and I’m glad I had the chance to nurture that aspect.

Capitalism I

Capitalism is just an economic form of fascist darwinism.

The survival of the fittest doesn’t mean the weakest must die.
